Västgötaspets is the Swedish name for Swedish Vallhunds and means 'Spitz of the West Goths'.  This breed of dog is confident, bright and often comical. A herding bred known for their intelligence, ability to problem solve, agility Swedish Vallhunds have exceptional versatility.

Owners describe their dogs as very loyal, faithful companions and they make ideal watch dogs and will alert you to all visitors.

Notable for their striking wolf colouring and markings which eludes to their ancient past.  They are believed to have descended from primitive dogs, with evidence of their linage going back some some 1,000 years to the time of the Viking farmers.Although ancient in origin they really are a modern day dog, not too big, not too small, adaptable, easy to live with. They do not require the fuss and grooming that a dog with a long coat of fur might, have a low doggy smell, and you wont need deep pockets like you might with a big breed that has a large food requirement.

While still rare, the Swedish Vallhund as a dog breed is growing in popularity in Australia with most breeders reporting no difficulty in finding homes for their puppies and you can in some cases expect to be on a waiting list for your pup.

We are here to provide support to Australia breeders, promote this rare breed and provide information for those researching for their next dog.  We are for the Swedish Vallhund enthusiast.
